Boulder County Jail Roster

The Boulder County jail roster is a public resource that lists individuals currently held at the Boulder County Jail in Colorado. BoulderCourt.us can help you find publicly available information about current and recent inmates. You can also access jail roster information through the Boulder County Sheriff's Office website, by calling the jail directly, or by visiting in person. A jail roster search lets the public confirm whether someone is in custody, view current charges, and check bond information. The Boulder County Sheriff's Office maintains the roster, publishing both a Daily Booking Report and a Daily Listing Report on the county website. These reports are updated regularly to reflect current jail population.

Search Current Inmates in Boulder Jail

There are several ways to search for someone currently held at the Boulder County Jail:

Online Search

  1. Visit BoulderCourt.us to search publicly available court record information related to Boulder County inmates.
  2. Go to the Daily Booking & Listing Reports page on the Boulder County website. The Sheriff's Office publishes two reports here: the Daily Booking Report (individuals booked on the current day) and the Daily Listing Report (all individuals currently in custody).
  3. The enhanced roster page includes the ability to search for current inmates by name and a daily release report showing individuals released that day.

To search, you will need the individual's full legal name. If you have a booking number, that can also be used. You can use your browser's built-in find function (Ctrl+F or Cmd+F) to locate a specific name within the listing reports if no search field is available on a particular report view.

Juvenile offenders are not included on the public roster.

Find Boulder Jail Booking Records Online

A booking record is created each time an individual is processed into the Boulder County Jail. During booking, jail staff record identifying information and assign a booking number. The record typically includes:

  • Full legal name and date of birth
  • Booking number
  • Date and time of booking
  • Charges at the time of booking
  • Arresting agency
  • Bond type and amount (if applicable)

Current booking records are viewable through the Daily Booking Report published by the Sheriff's Office. To see charges and bond requirements for a specific individual, you can also check the bond and booking definitions page, which explains the types of bonds that may be set.

For older booking records that no longer appear on the daily reports, contact the Sheriff's Office Records Division at 303-441-3600 or email SheriffRecords@bouldercounty.gov. You may need to submit a formal records request. Requests for case reports, mugshots, or body-worn camera footage also require a records request submission.

Court-related records, including docket information and case filings, are available separately through the Colorado Judicial Branch docket search.

Search the Boulder Jail Roster by Last Name or Booking Number

The Boulder County jail roster supports two primary search methods:

Search by Name

  • Enter the individual's last name on the enhanced roster search page.
  • You can optionally add a first name to narrow results.
  • Use the person's full legal name — nicknames and aliases may not return results.
  • Double-check spelling. A single incorrect letter can cause the search to miss a match.

Search by Booking Number

  • If you have a booking number (from a bail bondsman, attorney, or prior search), enter it directly.
  • This method returns a single, specific record and is the most precise way to locate someone.

If No Results Appear

A blank result does not necessarily mean the person was never booked. Consider these possibilities:

  • The individual may have already been released. Check the daily release report.
  • There may be a delay between arrest and the record appearing online.
  • The name may be spelled differently in the system than expected — try alternate spellings or just the last name.
  • The person may have been booked under a legal name that differs from a commonly known name.
  • Call the jail at 303-441-3600 to verify if you cannot locate someone online.

Jail Roster Updates and Search Limitations in Boulder

The Boulder County Daily Booking Report and Daily Listing Report are updated regularly, typically on a daily cycle. The enhanced roster page reflects current custody status, but there are important limitations to keep in mind:

  • Processing delays: After an arrest, it may take several hours before the individual appears on the online roster. Booking, intake screening, and data entry all take time.
  • Release timing: Once someone is released — whether on bond, by court order, or after completing a sentence — their name is removed from the current listing. Released individuals appear on the daily release report for that day only.
  • Not an archive: The roster reflects who is currently in custody. It is not a searchable database of all past bookings. For historical booking information, contact the Sheriff's Office Records Section directly.
  • Data accuracy: Charge information shown on the roster reflects what was recorded at the time of booking. Charges may later be modified, added, or dropped by the District Attorney's Office or the court.
  • Restricted records: Juvenile records, sealed cases, and certain sensitive bookings are excluded from the public roster under Colorado law.

Under the Colorado Open Records Act (CORA), most jail records are considered public. However, specific records may be restricted based on ongoing investigations, court orders, or statutory confidentiality provisions. If you need records beyond what the online roster provides, submit a request through the Sheriff's Office Records Division at 303-441-3600 or by email at SheriffRecords@bouldercounty.gov.
